about

All songs written, performed and recorded by Benoit G.

GWR 002.

review by Saby Reyes-Kulkarni:
"In both creative and literal terms, Benoit Guerroué, the Rochester transplant who calls himself Carbonic, has a voice so distinctive it appears to have little precedent. Yeah, you can find a slew of similarly folk-leaning, experimental solo acts who sing in hushed tones over affected guitar loops. But Carbonic bravely unearths such stark-naked emotion and androgyny that you, the listener, can find yourself reeling from the glare. Though he's expanded his presentation from barebones acoustic and voice to a more involved, effects-heavy setup, Carbonic's ninth album, the double-CD Dance of Dirt/Dirt I Became..., bounds for horizons that even his fans couldn't have imagined. Sprawling, orchestral, epic, Dirt unveils Guerroué's golden touch as an arranger, recordist, and mixer. For this CD-release show, he plays solo and with his "super band," Bloody Feathers, a bevy of local talent in the form of Loulou, Ian Downey, Kyle Brown, Cameron Farash, Tim Wilson, and Steven Danglis."
